Recently we held a Yoga/Meditation/Nutrition Retreat overlooking the lake which is the perfect place to be in the moment and enjoy nature. Satyen was the instructor and he is extremely knowledgeable as he is a medical doctor and Yoga teacher. Satyen is known for his unconventional teaching style, passion, dedication, with a profound knowledge in the vast field of yoga and nutrition. He also has a good sense of humour which made for a fun weekend.
The weekend started with everyone arriving on the Friday afternoon and settling into their accommodation. A quick welcome followed by a delicious vegetarian meal. Then we were straight into learning about deep relaxation techniques. The perfect way to wind down before bed, drifting off to sleep while listen the sounds of the bush.
Saturday was a full day learning many different techniques and all about nutrition. The day included light stretching, meditation, yoga, yogic breaching exercises, mantras (sound vibrations) and nutrition.
The yoga practise catered to everyone as it suited every level from the beginner to the advanced. Yogic breathing techniques energised the body and balanced emotions.
Sunday started with light stretching, meditation, yoga and lots more information on nutrition. We ended the weekend in a closing circle and everyone really enjoyed the weekend.
Yoga and meditation are great ways to slow down, quieten the mind, strengthen the body and bringing our minds into present time. It was a successful weekend with delicious vegetarian meals and the outlook onto the lake was a perfect backdrop to do our yoga practice.
